Construction of a Mini ramp

Patrick Hagar                                        the construction of a Mini ramp

My Most vivid memory of me growing up was back when I was 10 years old and me my dad, my mom, and my friends were helping me construct a mini ramp in my backyard. I can still recall jumping up and down in my seat waiting to get the supplies as we entered the entrance to the building center. After we had the supplies necessary to begin I was already envisioning the future and all the good times I would have. When me and my dad got back I saw out the window my friends and my mother were waiting outside patiently ready to start. After putting together the math and the necessary plans….we began to build. Slowly but surely I could see it was becoming more of a mini ramp rather than pieces of wood nailed together. Not only were we building…we were bonding and it was cool because I became closer with my friends and family then I ever had before…to me that’s what really made this memory last. After about a month we finished and we had a big barbecue to celebrate. The parents got to chat and watch us skate, while me and my friends enjoyed the brand new ramp that we had all built together. So to me…that mini ramp wasn’t just a mini ramp, it brought joy to the people using it and that’s the way it still is today.

Rope Swing

Rope Swing

One of my fondest memories had to of been during fall when I moved into my new house, I was very unaware of its surroundings including my yard and beyond. About 2 months later I had discovered there was a giant tree House in the corner section of my up hilled yard. After discovering the tree fort…I had discovered something even better. A ROPE SWING! Attached to the dangling sturdy branch above was a monstrous rope swing leading down o the ground below. I was so excited I went down it almost immediately without caution…luckily I did not hurt myself. After discovering this jewel I ran down to the house and got on the phone and invited like 5 friends over and together we devised the best idea that would keep us entertained all day. Together we gathered up all the leaves in my yard and built a giant leaf pile directly under the rope swing so after you swing you drop and fall into the leaves. We continued to do this from 12 to 6PM. Overall it was a great day and experience. And still to this day when kids come over, they ask if they can use the rope swing. But just recently the rope swing has retired and broke, and now when I look at the tree of where it used to be it brings back nostalgia and good memories.
